Trick or Treat Brownie Trifles

If Halloween is all about the treats, Trick or Treat Brownie Trifles deliver. Fudgy brownies, creamy pudding, fluffy whipped topping, and a mix of candy and cookies.

No tricks here, just sweet layers that are easy to make ahead and disappear fast at parties, potlucks, or a scary movie night. Guests can pile on candy and cookies however they like for a personalized Halloween treat.

What You'll Need

  • Brownie mix (plus eggs, oil, and water as directed)

  • Instant vanilla or pumpkin spice pudding

  • Cold milk

  • 1 container frozen whipped topping, thawed

  • Halloween candy, cookies and sprinkles for decorating.

How to Make Trick or Treat Brownie Trifles

1. Bake the brownies
Bake brownies according to package instructions in a 13x9 pan and let them cool completely. Cut into bite-size cubes.

2. Prepare the pudding layer
In a bowl, whisk together pudding and cold milk until thickened. Stir in peanut butter until smooth, then gently fold in whipped topping.

3. Layer the trifle
In 9 ounce cups or glasses, layer the ingredients in this order:

  • Brownies

  • Pudding

  • Whipped topping

  • Repeat layers.

4. Chill
Refrigerate the trifles for at least 2 hours to let the layers set.

5. Top with Halloween candy
Decorate the top with candy, sprinkles, or cookies just before serving or set them out and let the guests choose their own treats.

Tips & Tricks

  • Use a plastic knife to cut the brownies: It makes clean slices with fewer crumbs and keeps the layers looking neat.
  • Add color: Tint the whipped topping or pudding with orange, green or purple food coloring to make it pop.
  • Make ahead: Assemble the trifles up to 24 hours in advance and keep them covered in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
  • Make it a showstopper: Layer the ingredients in a large clear glass bowl to create an unforgettable centerpiece for your Halloween table.

Strawberry Pizzelles

Pizzelles are one of my favorite childhood cookies and I'm constantly looking for ways to put a new spin on them.  Since one of my favorite summer fruits is strawberries, I swapped out the vanilla in the original recipe with strawberry extract.

Easy Stuffed Waffles with Sweet and Savory Fillings

Stuffed waffles are a fun twist on the classic waffle—crispy on the outside and packed with tasty fillings inside. I recently got a stuffed waffle maker, and I’m loving how it turns waffles into little pockets of deliciousness! The best part? You don’t need a strict recipe because this is a perfect “clean out the fridge” meal. Grab whatever leftovers or fillings you have on hand, stuff ’em inside, and waffle away! Here’s what I tried this time, but feel free to get creative and make it your own.
