Welcome to Jolene’s Recipe Journal

Homemade, tested, and shared from my kitchen to yours since 2013.

Hi, I’m Jolene—a New England home cook, food writer, and passionate recipe developer. I started this blog in 2013 after the cooking message board I loved shut down. What began as a way to preserve my favorite dishes has grown into an online journal of the meals I make for my family and friends—each one tested, photographed, and shared from my own kitchen.

Over the years, my recipes have been featured in Taste of Home magazines and cookbooks, as well as national outlets like MSN.com, Parade.com, and WPR.org. I’ve also partnered with trusted brands such as Swiss Diamond, Dixie Crystals, and Blendtec.

Here, you’ll find a mix of classic comfort food, seasonal treats, and family favorites. Every recipe is developed and tested by me—no stock photos, no outsourced content. Just real food with honest results.

When I’m not cooking or working on the blog, I spend most of my time with my husband and son. We enjoy simple things together—taking drives through the mountains, visiting the beach, or just hanging out at home with puzzles and movies.

Strawberry Pizzelles

Pizzelles are one of my favorite childhood cookies and I'm constantly looking for ways to put a new spin on them.  Since one of my favorite summer fruits is strawberries, I swapped out the vanilla in the original recipe with strawberry extract.

Easy Stuffed Waffles with Sweet and Savory Fillings

Stuffed waffles are a fun twist on the classic waffle—crispy on the outside and packed with tasty fillings inside. I recently got a stuffed waffle maker, and I’m loving how it turns waffles into little pockets of deliciousness! The best part? You don’t need a strict recipe because this is a perfect “clean out the fridge” meal. Grab whatever leftovers or fillings you have on hand, stuff ’em inside, and waffle away! Here’s what I tried this time, but feel free to get creative and make it your own.
