Maple Glazed Green Beans

These Maple Glazed Green Beans are a sweet and savory weeknight side dish, with tender green beans tossed in crispy bacon, caramelized onions, dried cranberries, and a touch of maple syrup.

Green beans are one of the few vegetables my guys eat without complaint, so I’m always looking for new ways to change them up. March is Maple Month here in New Hampshire, but since it’s not green bean season, I used a steam-in-bag variety.

What You'll Need

  • Steam-in-bag green beans (10.8 oz)

  • 1 large onion, chopped

  • 4 bacon strips, cut into 1-inch pieces

  • ½ cup dried cranberries

  • ¼ cup maple syrup

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp pepper

  • 1 tbsp bourbon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare beans according to package directions.

  2. Cook bacon and onions: In a large skillet, cook bacon and onion over medium heat until bacon is crisp; drain.

  3. Add flavorings: Stir in cranberries, maple syrup, salt, pepper, and bourbon if using.

  4. Combine: Add green beans and toss to coat. Heat through.

  5. Serve: Plate immediately.

Tips & Variations

  • For a vegetarian version, omit bacon and use smoked paprika for a smoky flavor.

  • Add chopped toasted nuts like pecans for extra crunch.

  • Adjust the maple syrup for more or less sweetness.

I love how the syrup cooks down and candies the bacon, onions, and cranberries. Using steam-in-bag beans makes this a super fast side dish for busy weeknights.

Strawberry Pizzelles

Pizzelles are one of my favorite childhood cookies and I'm constantly looking for ways to put a new spin on them.  Since one of my favorite summer fruits is strawberries, I swapped out the vanilla in the original recipe with strawberry extract.

Easy Stuffed Waffles with Sweet and Savory Fillings

Stuffed waffles are a fun twist on the classic waffle—crispy on the outside and packed with tasty fillings inside. I recently got a stuffed waffle maker, and I’m loving how it turns waffles into little pockets of deliciousness! The best part? You don’t need a strict recipe because this is a perfect “clean out the fridge” meal. Grab whatever leftovers or fillings you have on hand, stuff ’em inside, and waffle away! Here’s what I tried this time, but feel free to get creative and make it your own.
