Ingredients

For the Brownies:

  • 6 tablespoons butter, melted

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder

  • ¼ cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

For the Glossy Chocolate Glaze:

  • 6 tablespoons butter

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 2 tablespoons milk (plus more if needed)

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Make the Fudgy Brownie Base

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease or line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.

  2. In a medium bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy using a mixer.

  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.

  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet, mixing until just combined.

  6. Fold in mini chocolate chips if using.

  7. Spread batter evenly in prepared pan. Bake 20–25 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.

  8. Let cool completely before glazing.

Make the Glossy Chocolate Glaze

  1. Melt butter and chocolate chips together over low heat, stirring constantly.

  2. Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.

  3. Adjust consistency as needed with more milk or powdered sugar.

  4. Pour glaze over cooled brownies and spread evenly. Let set at room temperature for a glossy finish.

Tips for the Perfect Brownie Glaze

  • Use semisweet chocolate chips for a smooth, glossy glaze.

  • Let the glaze set at room temperature and avoid refrigerating right after glazing to prevent cracking.

  • Adjust thickness by adding powdered sugar (thicker) or milk (thinner).

FAQ

Can I substitute mini chocolate chips in the batter?
Yes. Regular chocolate chips or chopped chocolate bars work well in these fudgy brownies too.

Can I add nuts to these brownies?
Yes. Chopped walnuts or pecans work well in this recipe. Stir about ½ cup into the batter before baking for added texture and crunch.

Does chocolate glaze harden on brownies?
The glaze will set as it cools, creating a soft glossy finish. For a firmer glaze, let the brownies sit at room temperature until fully set before slicing.

Why is my brownie glaze too thick?
If the glaze feels too thick to spread, whisk in a little extra milk, 1 teaspoon at a time, until smooth and pourable.

Why is my chocolate glaze too thin?
Add a little more powdered sugar until the glaze reaches your preferred consistency.

Can I use dark chocolate chips for the glaze?
Yes. Dark chocolate creates a richer, less sweet brownie topping with deeper chocolate flavor.

Can I freeze glazed brownies?
Yes. Let the glaze fully set first, then store brownies in an airtight freezer-safe container for up to 2 months.

How should I store glazed brownies?
Keep brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Refrigerating immediately after glazing may soften or dull the glossy finish.

These easy fudgy brownies are delicious served plain or topped with Vanilla Superfudge Brownie Ice Cream for an extra decadent dessert. The glossy chocolate glaze makes them perfect for birthdays, bake sales, potlucks, or anytime you need a quick homemade treat.

Easy Stuffed Waffles with Sweet and Savory Fillings

Stuffed waffles are a fun twist on the classic waffle—crispy on the outside and packed with tasty fillings inside. I recently got a stuffed waffle maker, and I’m loving how it turns waffles into little pockets of deliciousness! The best part? You don’t need a strict recipe because this is a perfect “clean out the fridge” meal. Grab whatever leftovers or fillings you have on hand, stuff ’em inside, and waffle away! Here’s what I tried this time, but feel free to get creative and make it your own.

Strawberry Pizzelles

Pizzelles are one of my favorite childhood cookies and I'm constantly looking for ways to put a new spin on them.  Since one of my favorite summer fruits is strawberries, I swapped out the vanilla in the original recipe with strawberry extract.
